Coming to you live from my beach house! I have been working on a fun little home decor project with Lowe’s Home Improvement to paint and decorate my guest room at the beach house! As you know, I’m all about beachy surf inspired style, so I wanted to bring that same feeling to my home as well. I chose HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams paint in Icicle blue to give the room a tranquil feeling for guests with a soft oceanic vibe. The previous wall color was also a blue shade, but just a bit too candy colored, so I went a few shades lighter and a little less turquoise.
Being a surfer, I have quite a few surfboards for different surf conditions and it’s not always easy to store them in a cool and efficient way. So, when working on this project I decided to incorporate my very first surfboard into the mix and carefully tuck it into the corner of the room. It was the perfect compliment the walls so I kept pulling in different color accents with the furniture and bath towels in both brighter and softer blue hues. I also hung one of my own acrylic paintings over the bed for a hit of yellow, and the nightstands were hand crafted by the previous owners of the beach house using cracked plates and sea shells. To balance it out, I chose something soft, simple and sheer on the windows, but still keeping a beachy vibe. Lowe’s measured and installed lightweight white bamboo Bali Blinds and I added my own simple sheer panels over that to complete the look. I think we definitely accomplished a feeling of a chic surf shack, don’t you? Can’t wait to see what my guests think! And stay tuned for more home decor posts coming soon!
Love love love…. Clean and soothing!
And the surf board tucked in the corner is a great touch!
Off to catch a wave! xoxo
