As the winter season creeps in, it’s easy to fall into a fitness and skincare rut. So I always try to keep my body, mind and skin in check with a few simple fitness and beauty steps. When it’s super cold out my skin always gets tight and dehydrated, and my summer glow is long gone. So, keeping up with the proper moisture and anti-aging products is key for me. But, I also have to be careful not to over apply products which will cause my dry winter skin to get irritated.
For the last year I’ve been using RoC® products a few days a week to combat fine lines and wrinkles that creep in, especially due to my outdoorsy active lifestyle. The Retinol Correxion® Deep Wrinkle Serum, which contains a combo of pure retinol and a mineral complex, helps to give a more radiant glow to my face. So I like to apply that, along with a hydrating moisturizer during the day.
As for my eyes, that’s always a challenge, but I’m pretty disciplined when applying RoC® Retinol Correxion® Eye Cream every morning (and night) to help smooth my skins surface with a combination of pure retinol and a mineral complex. It also helps to keep dark circles and puffiness to a minimum, which is super important for early morning photoshoots.
So, be sure keep up your beauty regimes and as seasons change and temps dip, just alter your products so not to over treat skin, which can cause irritation in harsher weather.
Staying active always has a positive affect on me, and my mood. Running and outdoor workouts are a great way to wake up your senses and get some fresh air and daylight while staying fit. It’s not always my first choice when NYC is cold and grey, but once I motivate, layer up, and hit the streets for a long run or cardio sesh, I always feel better— both mentally and physically. Once you commit to workouting out a few times a week, you’ll find that it’s much easier to stick to a routine and mix in physical activity without hesitation —even in the dead of winter.
If I have my choice, I usually opt for outdoor activities like running, biking, hiking, (and surfing in the summer) … but in the winter, I just have to push myself a little harder and add more layers, hats and gloves, to make it happen. And, once I do, I always feel more alert, refreshed and productive.
So, this winter season I challenge you to stay hydrated and nourished, take care of your skin, and motivate to MOVE!
Stay healthy, Girls!
