Ruffles on the Road! How to Pack like a Pro!

More from my trip to Costa Rica! I did lots of traveling this past month so I’ll be sharing much more tropical style and outdoor adventures and workouts with you! But today let’s stick to how to pack like a pro to make the most of your vacation wardrobe!

I try to carry on my bags whenever possible to save time at the airport and avoid the chances of loosing my luggage! Could you imagine?! So, when choosing my outfits to pack for a warmer climate, it’s easy breezy. I bring pieces that I can mix and match from day-to-night and I even incorporate my swimsuits and coverups as part of my look, after the beach!

This particular ruffle number is a coverup from Tommy Bahama, but it totally works for a night out or a sunset dinner too! I wore it around town over my bikini for a day of shopping and lunch by the ocean, but later in the week I also threw it back on for a fancier invite at night. It’s lightweight and cool enough for hot humid temps, and as the sun goes down, you can just thrown on a simple wrap or lightweight sweater to keep warm.

A few other travel tips I swear by are below:

  • Bring one scarf that doubles as a wrap/sarong for day or night.
  • Don’t forget a hat and sunnies!
  • Pack a one-piece swimsuit, a bikini and a few extra interchangeable tops and bottoms in similar colors that can mix and match to keep your swim style fresh for the week.
  • Maxi skirts can easily double as a strapless dress! Just add some new accessories and a belt, and you’ll have a whole new look!
  • Tanks and tees can be worn during the day for a casual cool vibe and get dressed up at night with bold beads or a scarf, some sparkly sandals and a cute clutch.
  • Bring one pair of lightweight pants that can double as a beach coverup with a bikini top for day, and swap in a halter or crop-top at night.
  • I always bring one pair of running sneakers so I can see the sights in a new town by jogging or brisk walking whenever possible. That way I can burn some calories and get a workout in instead of taking mass transit.
  • Other shoe choices that I can’t live without are strappy sandals that can get dressed up or down, and flip-flops for poolside and showering.
  • Take a backpack as your second item for carry-on so when you arrive to your destination you have a hands-free bag to use while exploring.
  • Pack travel-size beauty faves and leave the bulky stuff at home.
  • Have fun and be a fab on your excursions!
