This Polar Vortex in NYC has me wishing for all the sun, fun and outdoor adventures we experienced in Morocco a few months ago. Take me back!
We traveled from the buzzing city of Marrakech, to camping in the desert, ending our trip with a little R&R and surfing by sea at the Hyatt Place in Taghazout Bay. I was so excited to smell the salty air and spend the last few days of our trip in such a beautiful coastal resort.
We were welcomed by a super friendly and helpful crew who checked us into our AMAZE room with a view of the ocean and our own private balcony! We sipped on pre-dinner cocktails and enjoyed fresh fruit while the sun was setting! It was the perfect way to start the last part of our journey!
After showering up, it was off to dinner where we got a sneak peek of the chef putting his finishing touches on all the amazing dishes for the elaborate buffet. The presentation was just as delicious as it tasted!
When I travel, it’s sometimes hard to stick to my healthy eating habits, but there was plenty of options (from breakfast to dinner) that allowed me to pick smart menu choices— minus my love of wine and fries!
That first night I had fresh fish, salad and veggies from their very own herb and vegetable gardens on site! It was exactly what I was craving after a long travel day. We ate our dinner outside on the deck under the stars, and listened to live music to end the night before resting up for another action-packed day.
The next day it was time to hit the surf! We headed down to the water to rent a board and paddle out to catch a few waves. It was so cool to be on a surfboard while seeing camels along the shore riding up and down the sand. Such a cool experience, and one I’ll never forget. I also got some tips from the super cute and friendly surf instructors on where the best breaks were and what spots to avoid. I love a little insider info to experience all the local hot spots!
I was also able to get some seaside runs, and yoga in too, which was a nice treat! When I can keep up with my fitness regime while traveling, it’s a win-win. And, the grounds around the resort were the perfect place for me to put in some miles and practice a few flows on mornings when I had extra time to chill.
The spa was def on my to-do list, so before we hit the road, I popped in for a soak in the steam room and hot tub. They have six treatment rooms with lots of must-try treatments including body wraps, scrubs, massages and facials.
The whole trip was such a pleasant and rejuvenating experience. I especially loved that we did’t feel the need to go off property on some days and were able to relax and chill by the pool, or take advantage of the spa and have our meals at the resort.
And even when we did wander on our own, it was so easy to get around with the transportation provided by the hotel, so we always felt safe and eager to explore. There were so many excursions to choose from, so if you’re the adventurous type you’ll have no problem finding a fun activity to satisfy your cravings. From camel rides on the beach, to sunset surfing or golfing on their beautiful courses, there’s something for everyone to try!
And a huge thank you to a staff that was super friendly, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help us any time of day. We can’t wait to come back and visit again one day! But until then, I’ll have my pics to remind me of all our amazing adventures.
